Fall 2013 Grahame Brooke Snider
Endowed Photography Travel Award is
presented to Nikola McKenzie a senior in the Department of Art. This $500 award
is a recurring honor in the Photography concnetration in the Department of Art
on the Mississippi State Univeristy Campus. This award is given to only those
who see and understand the value of travel for creative visual research.
Nikola McKenzie will use the funds to attend the Socieity for
Photographic Education South
Central Regional Conference titled Refining Humanity: Photography and
Empathy at the College of the
Mainland on October 17-20, 2013. The conference will explore the many and
varied ways in which photographers and lens-based artists illuminate the human
experience.
This Award is in the memory of Grahame
Brooke Snider who was a student in the Photography Concentration in the
Department of Art at Mississippi State University from 2006-2010. “Grahame
lived and love photography. She absorbed all she could by attending photographic
workshops and conferences.” States Professor Marita Gootee, who is the
Photography Area Coordinator. “Her family created this award to honor Grahame’s
passion for photographic knowledge and to provide MSU Photo students the
opportunity to develop their passion for photography through travel.”
The Grahame Brooke Snider Endowed
Photography Travel Award will be presented in the Fall and Spring to a
Photography Concentration BFA student. This award is to encourage creative
visual research in the photographic field through travel to conferences,
libraries, collections, museums, workshops and more.
The application for the Spring is due Jan 27th , 2014.
